Part 1 β€” Website Terms of Service

By accessing or using the parsol.org website (the “Site”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”) and our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated herein by reference. If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the Site.

These Terms apply to all visitors, subscribers, donors, and others who access or use the Site. PARSOL reserves the right to update or modify these Terms at any time without prior notice. Your continued use of the Site following any changes constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms.

2. About PARSOL

PARSOL β€” Pennsylvania Association for Rational Sexual Offense Laws β€” is a nonprofit advocacy organization dedicated to reforming Pennsylvania’s sex offense laws through evidence-based policy, public education, and legislative advocacy. PARSOL is an affiliate of the National Association for Rational Sexual Offense Laws (NARSOL).

3. Permitted Use

You may access and use the Site for lawful purposes consistent with these Terms. You agree not to:

  • Use the Site for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law or regulation
  • Transmit any harmful, offensive, defamatory, or otherwise objectionable content
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Site or its related systems
  • Scrape, harvest, or collect personal information from the Site without written permission
  • Use the Site to send unsolicited commercial communications (spam)
  • Interfere with or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Site

4. Intellectual Property

All content on the Site β€” including but not limited to text, graphics, logos, images, and software β€” is the property of PARSOL or its content suppliers and is protected by applicable copyright and intellectual property laws. The PARSOL name and logo are trademarks of the organization. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works without express written permission from PARSOL, except for fair use as permitted by applicable law.

5. Third-Party Links

The Site may contain links to third-party websites. These links are provided for your convenience only. PARSOL has no control over the content of those sites and accepts no responsibility for them or for any loss or damage that may arise from your use of them. Linking to a third-party site does not imply PARSOL’s endorsement of that site or its content.

8. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any legal action or proceeding arising under these Terms shall be brought exclusively in the courts located in Pennsylvania.

PARSOL reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will indicate the date of the most recent revision at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Site after any modifications constitutes your acceptance of the revised Terms. If changes are material, we may notify registered subscribers by email.


Part 2 β€” SMS / Text Message Messaging Terms

Regulatory notice: These SMS Messaging Terms govern the PARSOL News & Updates text message program and constitute a binding agreement between you and PARSOL. These terms are required for compliance with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the CTIA Messaging Principles and Best Practices, and The Campaign Registry (TCR) 10DLC program requirements.

10. Program Description

The PARSOL News & Updates SMS program sends informational and advocacy-related text messages to individuals who have expressly opted in to receive them. Message topics may include:

  • Legislative updates and advocacy alerts
  • PARSOL news, events, and announcements
  • Calls to action (e.g., contacting elected officials)
  • Organizational updates and fundraising information
  • S.L.A.A. (Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous) fellowship news and events

11. How to Opt In

You may enroll in the PARSOL News & Updates SMS program by:

  • Web form: Checking the SMS opt-in checkbox on the parsol.org mailing list signup form and providing your mobile phone number. Your consent is recorded with a timestamp.
  • Important: Checking the opt-in box is entirely optional. Consent to receive SMS messages is not required to join our mailing list, receive email communications, make a donation, or participate in any PARSOL program.

12. Message Frequency

You will receive approximately 2 text messages per month as part of the PARSOL News & Updates program. During periods of significant legislative activity or urgent advocacy needs, you may receive up to 4 messages in a single month. We will always respect your communication preferences and will not send messages more frequently than necessary.

13. Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply. Standard SMS/MMS message rates charged by your wireless carrier will apply to all messages sent and received as part of this program. PARSOL does not charge any fee for participation in this program. Contact your wireless carrier for details about your plan’s messaging rates.

14. How to Opt Out

You may opt out of the PARSOL News & Updates SMS program at any time using any of the following methods:

  • Reply STOP β€” Text the word STOP, STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, or QUIT to any PARSOL message. You will receive a single confirmation message and no further messages will be sent.
  • Email β€” Send an opt-out request to info@parsol.org from the email address associated with your account.
  • Website β€” Use the unsubscribe link in any PARSOL email to manage all communication preferences.

Confirmation message upon STOP: “You have been successfully unsubscribed from PARSOL News & Updates. No further SMS messages will be sent to this number. To re-enroll, reply START or visit parsol.org.”

16. Supported Carriers

The PARSOL News & Updates program supports all major U.S. wireless carriers, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless, US Cellular, Boost Mobile, MetroPCS, Cricket Wireless, Spectrum Mobile, and other regional and MVNO carriers.

Carrier liability disclaimer: Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Message delivery is subject to carrier network conditions.

17. TCPA Compliance & Consent

By opting in to the PARSOL News & Updates SMS program, you represent and warrant that:

  • You are the account holder or have the account holder’s permission to enroll the mobile number you provided
  • You are at least 18 years of age
  • You are providing express written consent to receive autodialed or prerecorded text messages from PARSOL at the mobile number provided
  • You understand that consent is not a condition of any purchase, membership, or participation in any PARSOL program

PARSOL complies with the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), the CAN-SPAM Act, and applicable regulations of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). We use a registered 10-digit long code (10DLC) number for all SMS communications, registered with The Campaign Registry (TCR) for compliance with carrier requirements.

18. Privacy and Data Use

Your mobile phone number and consent record are stored securely by PARSOL. We use this information solely to deliver the SMS program you enrolled in. We will not sell, rent, or share your mobile number with third parties for their own marketing purposes. For full details, please review our Privacy Policy.

Consent records β€” including the date and time of opt-in, the phone number enrolled, and the IP address of the enrolling device β€” are retained for a minimum of four (4) years to demonstrate compliance with applicable regulations.

19. Changes to the SMS Program

PARSOL reserves the right to modify or discontinue the SMS program at any time. If we make material changes to these SMS Terms, we will notify active subscribers via text message and update this page. Your continued participation in the program after notification constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms.

20. Governing Law (SMS Terms)

These SMS Messaging Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and applicable federal law, including the TCPA and FCC regulations. Any disputes arising under these terms shall be resolved in accordance with Section 8 of these Terms of Service.
